hi blog! i'm on faster internet connection!

now it feels good to be on faster internet connection cuz i can stream online radio fast! and listen to my home radio 987fm without any disturbances... haha... upload pics onto facebook faster and hopefully skype better with girlfriend!<3

the past weekend had been spent in the city centre roaming around for shopping and stuff... uk has 2 outlets which all people or rather girls must go! first would be primark which is like th OG of singapore... but their stuff are much more fashionable and westernised... i bought a silk tie and cufflink set for 5gbp and a flannel long sleeved shirt for 8gbp! haha... h&m is more high class than primark and better quality so the stuff will be naturally more expensive... haha.. did not get anything from h&m....

got a chance to visit the robin hood statue outside nottingham castle... haha.. this is the main attraction of nottingham cuz supposedly robin hood originated from nottingham. will be going back to the castle on a weekday cuz its free entry for students during weekdays! otherwise its a 4gbp entrance charge! haha=D

oh and surprisingly uk is not short of asian fare in food! haha... had been having quite a few chinese food lately... just had dim sum this afternoon and chinese 'zi char' for dinner... haha... have been skipping hall dinner but i don't mind that cuz i don't wanna be tied down to returning to hall early just for the dinner and not being able to have a chance to try the food around here! still have not fulfilled my beer battered fish and chips craving! hhahaha... well.. i'll leave you guys with some nice pictures i've took!=) this weekend heading out to london, next weekend to manchester! travelling rocks!!!!

went for a cool morning jog around the campus today... haha... part of the keep fit programme so that i can still aim to get my ippt gold when i return home! breakfast is starting to get boring here cuz they serve the same food all the time... cereals, hard boiled eggs, croissant, toast, milk... so i've decided to spice things up today by bringing my bak kwa to the dining hall, toasting 2 pieces of bread and make my own bak kwa sandwich! haha! finally some tast of singapore in uk! woohoo!

my class today started at 10am. its supposed to be a level 4 module, intended for masters students but i'm taking it anyway cuz i want to map it back to a level 4 module in NUS. and guess what... the slides that the lecturer used for the 1st and 2nd lecture are exactly the same as a module that i had taken in NUS! gosh! haha... content is almost the same! hope it does not differ too much so it eases my studying workload later during the semester when i'm SUPPOSED to prepare for my exams!=P

after lesson i spent the rest of the morning walking around the centre of the campus. they have this building called portland building... which is like the central forum or yih of nus... where u have all the student activities, bank, postbox, student's union, foodcourt etc... and we have quite a sunny weather over here today! how rare is that! haha... so i've decided to take some pictures of the school while its sunny!

oh! took some pictures of my hall too!=) its the only hall with clock tower.. haha... but the hall rooms are kind of old compared to my friends' which has modern furnishings... oh wells...

hey singapore! miss you!

its been 4 days here already and i'm missing home! things had been going on fine here in nottingham just that the weather's been alittle cold or rather quite cold and freezy and weather's a little gloomy... anyway... lectures had started already and i had attended 2 lectures so far. the lectures here are short. 1 hour per lecture. so there's hardly any chance for you to fall asleep unless you are really very very tired. notes are printed and provided by the lecturer, not like in nus where prof will upload their notes onto ivle (some do it last minute so its not too nice since we can't print the notes in time). i have managed to register for almost all of my modules here in nottingham. will be taking 2 chem modules, 1 statistics module and 2 travel modules. and of course the modules that i look forward to most would be the travel modules! hope they're really interesting!=)

the past few days had been quite normal. going out with the nus gang for lunch at the same foodcourt... cuz its the nicest in school BUT they only serve chicken and more chicken. breakfast in hall is the same for all days... sometimes i wonder how the people here survive. all they serve is hard boiled eggs, croissant, cereals and toast. tomorrow i'll be bringing my bak kwa smuggled in from sg to make bak kwa sandwich... heeheehee..

gonna go to the city centre to do some shopping and exploring later!=) toodles!

hullo world!=)

landed at heathrow airport terminal 3 this morning at 5am! the airport was so sparse and empty! my sep at the university of nottingham is not going to be such a lonely affair afterall as there are 6 other nus students here as well... so far managed to meet up with 5 out of the 6. the last person came here earlier and made his way to the university by himself. me and the other 5 took the same flight to heathrow... haha... what a coincidence!

thats me with my hot chocolate and melt-in-your-mouth marshmallows floating on top + bacon sandwich at bite cafe. total cost of brunch: GBP5.35 = SGD11 = ouch!

i must say that singapore really has a world class airport. it has all the things that you need, ranging from cheap fast food to expensive fine cuisine; FREE high speed wireless connection; toilets everywhere and the list continues. here in heathrow, all we've got are 2 cafes serving coffee and bread stuff... a pub serving decent savoury food but its price is way beyond our budget for our first meal... no fast food... yes... no fast food in all of its 4 terminals! and only 1 toilet available in terminal 3.

so we lazed around termianal 3. we pushed our luggages up and down the terminal, wasting time, trying to decide which place to settle down for a brunch. then finally 11am came and the university bus came to ferry us to our respective residences.

i'm staying in cripps hall. the room is something like that of the halls in nus, slightly bigger and more spacious, carpetted and fitted with a bar fridge and basin. my neighbours are pretty friendly people... haha... and one of them offered to show me the way to sainsbury tomorrow after dinner! woots! grocery shopping! fruits! and milk!

most of the time in my hall room today was spent unpacking, arranging, getting used to the place. now i'm all wrapped up and ready to go to bed cuz its too cold here in nottingham! its like freezing when u take a slow stroll out of your block to the dining room less than 100m away! but the good dinner makes up for the chittery chattery walk... i had roasted chicken, potato wedges, a berry pie and juice... enough to fill my stomach!=)

okie dokes... not much interesting stuff today... will have to start planning my weekend getaways to scenic parts of uk! stay tuned!=)
